WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY // BLACKSTOCK BARN // HAILSHAM
I had been recommended to Laura and Mike by Laura’s best friend Anna, who’s wedding I photographed at Pangdean Barn a few months prior to Laura’s. Laura was Anna’s bridesmaid at her wedding and likewise Anna was a bridesmaid to Laura, so it was lovely to get to meet these lovely girls on more than one special occasion. Laura and Mike held their Wedding at Blackstock Barn in Hailsham, situated in the beautiful East Sussex Countryside. The views outside of this venue are stunning, with beautiful courtyard areas at both the front and back of the barn for the guests to enjoy.
The barn at Blackstock is a beautiful 17th Century barn that has been beautifully restored to create a gorgeous, intimate, rustic feel to any wedding day. Laura had done such a great job decorating the barn, which she did hugely on her own to give the barn and the day a real personal feel, Laura had even made her own Wedding Cupcakes! With the flowers on the day supplied by Kim at the Flower House.
The cottage attached to the venue was the absolute ideal place for Laura and her bridesmaids to get ready, with Laura’s sister, Kerrie Waite, doing the bridal make-up, giving the day an even more personal feel and with help from Shelley Hall who did a fabulous job on all the girls hair.
The only unfortunate part to the entire day was the Great British weather, which on this day had decided that rain was the only option!! For most rainy weddings I have photographed I have always been extremely lucky and made use of dry spurts, and this wedding was no exception. Just when we thought there is no way this will ever clear, it did. However with both courtyards full of puddles, the areas for some outside shots were limited but I did manage to spot a little area that Laura could get to that was puddle free to allow her to lay the train on her stunningly beautiful Wedding gown down and relax for me to shoot away!!
Once all the guests had sat down ready for the BBQ wedding Breakfast I went round each table with a frame that Laura and Mike had had made to take some fun, quirky shots of their guests, who had also been supplied with gimmiky props on their tables. Great fun, with a great bunch of guests.
Thank you so much to Laura and Mike for letting me be a part of your day, it was awesome!! you guys totally rock!! Congratulation to the new Mr and Mrs Roots!! xx
