"MY WORLD" // PHOTOGRAPHING A SNOWY FAMILY WALK
Since taking my business full time 6 years ago I found I was taking fewer and fewer pictures of my own family, life and interests. So I decided as a new year’s resolution for 2018 I would start a new blog series entitled “My World” which as words depict will show what happens in my world and what I get up to when i’m not working on the many wonderful weddings and family shoots I photograph every year.
So, here it is, on this balmy British spring day, with a fresh scattering of springtime snow we headed to the woods for a snowy woodland dog walk. Wrapped up, with snuggly scarfs, wooly hats gloves and wellies we made our way to our local country park.
Since Roxy (our loopy boxer dog) arrived in our lives 5 months ago, we have made so much more time to find new, wonderful places to take her for walks, and living in Sussex we are not short of gorgeous woodlands and scenic places to visit. For this walk though, we stayed local to home and headed into Tilgate Forest, away from the main park where most go and into the depths of the forest, where the boys could forage and the dog could run free and chase them.
My boys are well used to me having a camera in hand and know to totally ignore me, i've also learnt having had 2 kids that most kids don’t want to be called away from the fun they’re having for staged photos. I much prefer anyway to capture the real moments, the real lifestyle, the real emotions, just as I do when I photograph other families on location.
